SZA’s ‘Love Galore’ Hits No. 1 on Adult R&B Songs Chart

SZA scores her first No. 1 on the Adult R&B Songs airplay chart (dated Jan. 27) with her maiden entry, “Love Galore,” featuring Travis Scott. The collaboration pushes 3-1, aided by a 21 percent surge in plays for the week ending Jan. 21, according to Nielsen Music.

The singer nearly bookends the 30-position chart as “The Weekend” debuts at No. 29. Both tunes feature on her first full-length album, Ctrl, which debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and ranks at No. 12 on the latest edition of the list, in its 32nd week.

The pair of songs could also bring more good fortune for SZA this week, as both are nominated for prizes at the 60th annual Grammy Awards on Jan. 28. “Galore” is up for best rap/sung collaboration, while “The Weekend” has a nod for best R&B performance. SZA is in contention for five awards overall – the most of any woman this year – including best new artist.

En Vogue Returns: Directly above “The Weekend,” En Vogue enters Adult R&B Songs at No. 28 with “Rocket,” scoring the act’s first entry on the list since “Ooh Boy” reached No. 22 in 2004. “Rocket” previews Electric Cafe, the group’s first album in fourteen years, and is expected March 30.

With the debut, the group extends its chart span to match the nearly 25-year history of Adult R&B Songs, having appeared on the inaugural ranking on Sept. 18, 1993 with “Runaway Love,” featuring FMOB. The quartet-turned-trio has claimed 10 entries on Adult R&B Songs in its career, including two top 10s: “Runaway,” a No. 9 hit in 1993 and “Don’t Let Go (Love),” which topped out at No. 7 in 1997.
